We are the Gretel Furler daycare center in Oberkirch – a modern element-i childcare center located directly next to the Koehler Group’s headquarters. In July 2026, we moved into our newly constructed building. It offers plenty of space for up to 95 children from the age of six months to play, explore, be active and learn together.
Our two-story childcare center is characterized by its bright, spacious and child-friendly architecture. Large windows allow plenty of natural light into the rooms and create a welcoming atmosphere. Air conditioning ensures pleasant temperatures even on warm days, providing ideal conditions for an active yet relaxed day at the center.
In a variety of activity rooms, including a movement room, an art studio and a role-play room, the children can follow their individual interests and needs, develop their own ideas and continuously try out new things. The open-plan design encourages interaction while also providing the children with orientation, security and a sense of comfort.
One of the special highlights is our large garden. Covering approximately 1,400 square meters, it offers plenty of space for the children to run, climb, play with mud, observe nature and go exploring together. A slide leading directly from the upper floor into the garden provides a particularly exciting way to get outside. Even moving through the building becomes an experience in itself.
Our team includes an on-site chef who prepares fresh meals at the childcare center every day. We follow the element-i nutrition concept and, whenever possible, involve the children in preparing and arranging the meals.
The Gretel Furler daycare center is a company childcare center operated for the Koehler Group while also welcoming families from Oberkirch. Sixty percent of the places are reserved for children of Koehler Group employees, while 40 percent are allocated through the City of Oberkirch. Together, we are creating a vibrant place where children and families feel welcome, valued and well cared for.
Our childcare center is named after Gretel Furler, the daughter of August and Else Koehler and former Chairwoman of the family-owned company’s Supervisory Board. Family, solidarity and future generations were particularly important to her – values that continue to shape everyday life at our childcare center.
