The element-i Justizzwerge childcare centre has been open for children aged between six months and six years since October 2013. There are a total of 30 places for children under the age of three (U3) and ten places for children over the age of three (Ü3). This all-day facility is located in the Palais Bretzenheim, centrally situated in Mannheim, near the castle. The day-care centre encompasses three floors linked by a stairwell. The beautiful, idyllic outdoor area is located in the interior courtyard of the Local Court.
All the bright rooms – among them the Atelier, the Crawler’s Nest and the Role-Playing Room – combined with care with all the necessary emotional support and an educational concept that supports and challenges children as they learn and play: The educational staff treat the children with sincerity and warmth and pay due attention to them. They treat them as equals in showing them how exciting the world is. They demonstrate trust in them to do things, provide them with motivation and support them in engaging with one another. They support the children and nurture their natural urge to discover with experiments, projects, games and a diverse range of materials.
A well-structured daily routine with phases in which they are allowed to act out their impulses and play freely as well as singing and discussion groups provide the children with the freedom – but also the boundaries that they need to develop to their fullest potential. This allows the children to develop self-esteem from which they forge the resilience they need to overcome life’s hardships, stand for what they believe in and pursue their goals.
Place assignment
1. Priority is given to children of employees of the Baden-Württemberg Judiciary (e.g. courts, public prosecution offices, prisons) who are resident in Baden-Württemberg.
2. For the remaining places, priority is given to children of other state civil servants (Landesbedienstete) resident in Baden-Württemberg.
3. The remaining places at this point may be awarded by the provider to other children resident in Mannheim.
